The title of the piece is also its program. Influences from jazz, Latin American music and classical music are connected with each other, as well as being juxtaposed in contrast.

The distinctive sounds produced by diverse performance techniques on the marimba form a bridge between musical styles which, considered individually, might seem incompatible.

Regarding performance with vibraphone

In the part marked freely no tremolo should be used. The remainder of the piece is up to the discretion of the performer. Only a few of the marimba tremolo passages should be taken over by the vibraphone.
