FruSSSna kviSStar is inspired by the poem Ja visst go¨r det ont (1935) written by the Swedish poet Karin Boye (1900-1941). The poem describes buds of a tree that freeze, burst, and drop down in the early, pale spring. It is written as a love poem. However, its symbolism could well refer to the tragedy of anything that freezes, breaks, ends, or falls apart before having the chance to flourish.
