Description
For orgel og trompet i C

Preface

This arrangement of the well-known catholic Easter chant - O filii et filiae - is one of my very first attempts to create something permanent in music. The original melody has survived numerous variants and served as source to several different arrangements in every kind of genre trough the centuries, of which many have been very inspirational to me. Especially John Rutter's arranteent for organ, four hads and pedal.
Having heard the different interpretations of the chant, preparing for the Ester masses of 2019, I felt the melody wrapping itself into my personal understanding of it, thus formulating into this little prelude for trumpet and organ. It was performet in Frogner Kirke in Lier, Norway for the first time on Easter Sunday of 2019

Intentionally, this is not a traditional, majestic-type of high-mass prelude, but more like a king of awakening set in music. The whole piece is supposed to be a long, yet waving crescendo. It is setting out in the fog, despair and mystic uncertainties that many of the witnesses of the first Easter felt at dawn of that day, arriving into the shocking realization of the powerful truth: Jesus is Risen!

I have placed commetaries, regarding registration, withing the notes. These are all just to give an approximate of my taste and none of these are compulsory. However, dynamical instructions are particularly important, and even with a free registration the setups should serve the inventions in the changes of volume.
