In his VIth Organ Symphony, Charles-Marie Widor showed himself to be at the height of his compositional mastery.
In the densely-worked monumental outer movements, the expressive slow movements and a dramatic, brilliant Intermezzo, Widor exploits the possibilities of the instrument to the full.
The new Carus edition is based on the last edition of 1928/29, published during the composers lifetime, as the authoritative source.
Corrections made subsequently by the composer have been taken into consideration.
