Black Beauty
One of the primary reasons Ludwig is "The Most Famous Name On Drums" is the legendary Black Beauty Snare Drum. The drum is constructed of a single sheet of brass that is machine drawn into a seamless beaded shell. However, due to their truly unique and difficult manufacturing process, only a very limited number of Black Beauties are available each year from Ludwig USA.

With a choice of two strainer options (P85 Supra-Phonic or P86 Millennium), the Black Beauty responds with excellent sensitivity at all volumes. Choose from Imperial or tube lugs, die cast or triple-flange hoops and a smooth or hand hammered shell. A true American original, the Black Beauty provides a warm, round metallic tone that is often imitated, but never duplicated.

The Legendary Black Beauty Snare Drum
The legendary Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum starts with a single sheet of brass. It's machine drawn and spun into a seamless beaded shell, then chrome plated to an exquisite finish. An American classic, the Black Beauty delivers a warm, fat, metallic tone that cuts through a thick mix like nothing else. Fitted with Ludwig's P85 Supraphonic strainer, the Black Beauty is super responsive, no matter how hard or soft you hit it. Due to a complex manufacturing process, they're not easy to make, so the Black Beauty is only available in limited quantities each year from Ludwig USA.

Since 1909, Ludwig drums have had one of the proudest legacies in percussion and are a favorite of drummers drummers for their warm, punchy sound. The world has heard them under the sticks of Cream's Ginger Baker, keeping the pulse behind Queen at Live Aid, and laying down the monstrous beat of Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks." But their biggest break came when Ringo Starr proudly played them on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, making Ludwig a household name for aspiring and superstar drummers alike.
