The Raid - Oliver Waespi - Brass Band

The composition The Raid came about as a commission by the Sörenberg music association on their 75th jubilee. It loosely follows the Sörenberger legend of Windtrüeb but also tells its own musical story. The legend tells the story of a brave man named Windtrüeb who successfully fought against marauding cattle thieves, but was eventually killed. In the music, a lyrical theme containing the Sörenberg song creates a dramatic passage, whilst contemplative moments alternate with an energetic pulse. At the end of the piece triumph and tragedy are felt equally.
