THE SMILE - MATTHEW HALLThe Smile was composed in loving memory of Reginald William Humphreys who very sadly passed away in February 2009. Affectionately known as Grandy by all his Grandchildren, The Smile incorporates numerous musical factors of his life. Brassed Off Fantasy, Dan Price. Brass BandCommissioned in 2013 by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band and included in their Brass in Concert program the same year, Brassed Off Fantasy is a skilfully written selection of music which appears in the 1996 film Brassed Off, which of course, the Grimethorpe Colliery Band are synonymous.The selection includes some of the popular music of the film, Londonderry Air, Finale from William Tell and The Florentiner March but the composer has cleverly disguised their musical settings with the Florentiner appearing as a German Beer Keller Waltz and William Tell written as a slow melody. Brassed Off Fantasy is a selection, which will please the audience and is fun for the band to perform yet breathes new life into the old Brassed Off favourites.

The Dreamtime is a sacred era in which the Aborigines believe ancestral totemic (symbolic) spirits created the world.
