VARIATIONS IN F
Friedrich Dionysus Weber (1766-1842), a conteporary of Mozart, was the first director of the Prague Conservatory. He was keenly interested in new technological develpments in brass instruments, and in 1819 he invented a trumpet with fingerholes. Four years later his experiments led to the invention of the valved trumpet in Vienna.
Weber's set of Variations in FVariations in F (here published for the first time) is the earliest surviving composition for his new trumpet. it represents a welcome addition to the classic trumpet repertory.
