Whispers of a Forest, Martin Skoog. Marimba Duo

Whispers of a Forest is a piece based on the mood and harmonic language of the folk music I heard growing up in Hälsingland in Sweden. The bright, short summers have given us a music full of dance, yet which carries in it a hint of melancholy. Swedish folk music is an aural-based tradition in this piece, therefore, I encourage the performer to improvise and make personal adaptations when it comes to dynamics and ornaments. The piece is to be performed without music. Whispers of a Forest was written for Tree Grove Marimba Duo.
