NOVEMBER BLUEStykket er opprinnelig skrevet for brassband på bestilling fra Johannes Mangersnes på vegne av Manger Old Star Brass i forbindelse med korpsets 30 års jubileum i 2010. November Blue er et kort klanglig stykke som uttrykker stemningen man kan ha enkelte dager da ettertenksomhet og ro er viktigere enn hastig jag. I dette stykket forsøker jeg å overføre vokalmusikalsk tenking til korpsmediet. Etter å komponert korverket 'Madrigal' til teksten 'Og nettene har ikke navn' av Stein Mehren, fikk jeg lyst til å videreføre det harmoniske språket. ME AND MRS. JONESMe and Mrs. Jones ble skrevet av Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff og Cary Gilbert i 1972, og ble første gang innspilt av Billy Paul på albumet 360 Degrees of Billy Paul. Låta handler om en mann som har en affære med Mrs. Jones, og hvordan de to møtes i hemmelighet hver dag på den samme kafeen, selv om de kanskje vet det ikke er helt rett: «We got a thing going on/we both know that it's wrong/but it's much too strong/to let it go now.» Paul har uttalt at han var sikker på at låta kom til å bli en hit allerede før den ble utgitt, siden «det er en sang alle kan relatere til», men allerede fra start ble teksten ansett som noe kontroversiell og ble nektet spilt på en del radiostasjoner. Likevel ble det en av de mestselgende singlene fra 1972 og Paul fikk en Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.Vel så kjent er sannsynligvis Michael Bublés versjon av låta, utgitt på albumet Call Me Irresponsible i 2007. Det er hans versjon som har vært den tydeligste inspirasjonen for dette arrangementet, som henter ut enda mer av jazzreferansene Bublé har funnet frem til å låta. Mus. (Hons.), LTCL, LGSM, studied music at Edinburgh University and continued with post-graduate studies in music at the University of Oxford. Kathy is a string teacher with many years experience of teaching violin and viola. She developed her teaching ideas at the coalface in both Music Services and in private practice, working with groups large and small and in one-to-one lessons. She was a strings consultant for the ABRSM Music Medals initiative, a new assessment specifically designed for students taught in groups, and a contributor to the accompanying book All together!
